Angie Craig on Government Reform

Reform our campaign finance system

To restore faith in our democracy, I've worked hard to clean up government while remaining transparent, honest and accountable to my constituents. The very first bill I cosponsored, The For the People Act, would enact a series of sweeping changes to reform our campaign finance system and restore confidence in our elections and government--including prohibiting members of Congress from serving on for-profit boards--a provision I introduced.

Pledges to hold a monthly public town hall

Q: What action will you take to ensure Minnesotans trust you as an elected official?

A: I have pledged to hold a monthly public town hall style event as a member of Congress in order to continually hear about the priorities and concerns of families in the Second Congressional District and answer questions.

A: What is the responsibility of our elected officials to encourage Minnesotans to engage in respectful, civil discussions?

A: Our government is broken. We need to stop playing politics with people's lives and our economy.

Q: What steps will you take to build cooperation between parties and unify the country?

A: I will work with anyone, regardless of party, to find bipartisan solutions that will benefit families in the Second District. Throughout my campaign, I have been meeting with local mayors--Republicans, Democrats and Independents, to learn about their communities' needs. I will continue to do so when I am in Congress as a representative for all families in our district.

PVS:Regulate campaign donations from corporations.

Craig supports the PVS survey question on regulating campaign donations

Project Vote Smart inferred whether candidates agree or disagree with the statement, 'Campaign Finance: Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?' PVS self-description: "The Political Courage Test provides voters with positions on key issues. Historically, candidates have failed to complete our test due to the advice they receive from their advisors and out of fear of negative attack ads."
